About me
Beatrice Livesey is a contemporary oil painter based in the Lake District, working primarily with wildlife, flora, landscapes and the natural world around her.
Beatrice began painting after leaving school during the Covid-19 lockdown, initially exploring painting as a way to spend time creatively before developing it into her artistic career.
Alongside her original paintings, Beatrice also accepts commissions, creating bespoke oil paintings of wildlife, houses, landscapes and beloved pets from photographs.
Inspired by the landscape around me, I feel incredibly lucky to live in such a beautiful place, and to have encountered red squirrels, badgers, foxes, deer, barn owls and an array of rare birds in my own garden.
I have a family of barn owls living above my studio, and I can hear them moving about every day while I paint. Being surrounded by wildlife in this way is a constant source of inspiration for my work.

SHINING A LIGHT ON NORTHERN ART
30th September 2023 - 22nd December 2024'Established to provide a platform to showcase both well-known and emerging artists, New Light will celebrate 15 years of supporting and promoting Northern artists in 2024. Offering some of the region's best awards and opportunities, the biennial New Light Prize Exhibition is often referred to as the Summer Exhibition of the North'One of the UK's largest and most talked about open exhibitions, the Prize Exhibition is open to artists over the age of 18, at any stage of their career, who were born, live, or have studied in one of the historical counties of the North of England.The 2023/24 tour launches in the North West for the first time at the Williamson ArtGallery & Museum, Wirral, before travelling to London's Bankside Gallery, followed by The Gallery at Rheged, Penrith, The Biscuit Factory, Newcastle, and finally, The Mercer Art Gallery in Harrogate.This year's selection features pieces by some of the most talented artists working in the UK, and gives a particularly exciting insight into contemporary Northern art.’
